The tracking will show you where the parcel is and any potential issues to resolve. To avoid having the parcel returned (or lost in transit) we advise you to contact the shippers immediately to report any delays or lost parcels etc.

We are happy to offer a credit note for any items you have bought and paid for in the last 12 months.

• Products must be returned undamaged in a resellable condition without any labels or price tags before a credit will be issued. Any damaged items will not be credited.
• Credit notes will be issued at the original item cost at the time of order and will be valid for 6 months. Cash refunds are not given.
• Product credit notes cannot be used toward delivery costs of new orders.
• Credits for discontinued products will be given at our discretion.
• All delivery costs for returns and exchanges must be paid in full.
• We will credit up to a trade value of £/€/$500 per any 12-month period.

Sometimes we work with freelance graphic designers and illustrations to assist us with larger products and research, such as our Care Cards and Fabric Journals.

We design our products in our London studio and work with specialist suppliers to manufacture our designs. 

The majority of our paper, card and printed products are made in the UK. We always choose a 100% recycled paper stock which is certified to come from sustainable forests. 

All our metal-etched products are made in China by the same supplier we’ve been working with since 2011. From our experience working with them for over a decade, they are world leaders in manufacturing the products with incredible attention to detail, quality and care. 

The metal lasts a lifetime. We use top-grade brass, which is plated after it's been chemically etched to protect the surface from marks, tarnishing or rust (if you wear glasses, it's a bit like having anti-scratch on your lenses)  We also use stainless steel for some products which is sometimes plated to give a matt colour finish. 

We’ve been looking and testing European suppliers for many years but have yet to find a company to produce the metal to such a higher standard than what we currently produce.  

Chemical etching and laser cutting are both sheet metal fabrication processes that effectively produce various thin metal parts. Both manufacturing methods are subtractive; the laser cuts material away with a high-powered laser beam while chemical etching uses certain chemicals that erode the unwanted metal. The results of both laser and chemical etching speak for themselves in terms of quality, as they both can maintain low tolerances.

All the metals in our products are made using a chemical etching process. 

The chemical etching process is controlled via chemical reactions and can achieve measurements as small as 30 μm (the same as the diameter of a human skin cell!) with no loss to the metal's properties.

For this reason, chemical etching is able to achieve precise measurements and shapes across a wide range of commonly-used metals. As we have larger-scale manufacturing runs, the best choice is chemical etching for speed, quality, and affordability- allowing us to keep products at a more affordable price.

We protect all our metal-made products with a varnish which means they are rust-resistant and will not corrode quickly over time in most environments.

In a very humid or wet environment, you may see the metal start to oxidise and tarnish a little. This is normal but don’t worry as it has no negative impact to the plant's health.

Metal

All our gold-coloured metalware products are made from brass, which is an alloy of copper and zinc. The great thing about brass is that it’s widely recycled around the world so the core material has a long lifespan and can be reused indefinitely. Brass is quite a valuable material (unlike paper or plastic) and energy costs for recycling brass are lower than other metals so there is an incentive to recycle this material. It is difficult to say for sure what percentage of the metal is recycled as the properties and composition stay the same once it is smelted back into separate alloys. Some research says 75-90% of brass is recycled content but it’s not something we have definitive facts on.

Paper

We use 100% recycled paper stock which is certified to come from sustainable forests. Mostly we use Shiro Echo paper of which the CO2 emissions it generates in the making are fully offset. 

Compostable Film

We use a very thin plant-based biodegradable cellophane (plastic-free!) which is certified to be 100% compostable. This ensures the design is protected whilst also showing the customer exactly what they are purchasing. 

Packaging

We only purchase paper and card based packaging (even down to the tape) and given the option, we always choose materials that are recycled. All printed stationery uses 100% recycled paper stock.

We make a concerted effort to reuse all packaging that comes into our studio. This may mean you occasionally find bubble wrap or plastic packaging in your order.
